WORDLESS WEDNESDAY: WE ALL NEED OUR HEROES

EVERYONE NEEDS A HERO.  ISIS' HERO IS BALTO, THE LEAD DOG IN THE LAST RELAY TEAM OF SIBERIAN HUSKIES THAT SAVED THE TOWN OF NOME ALASKA FROM A DEADLY DIPTHERIA BREAKOUT IN 1925.

This is a Blog Hop hosted by our friends at Blogpaws!  Thanks for being such great hosts of the Blogpaws 2014 Conference last weekend -  we all had a Grrrreat time!!

That is an amazing photo! I love Balto! I love the story behind it. The history of huskies is just amazing! Every single dog that helped with the diptheria outbreak are definitely hero's!

I know, it's such a great story! Isis and I volunteer as a therapy dog team and whenever I can choose a book myself to read with the kids I choose one about the Great Serum Run (sometimes called the Great Race of Mercy). Those dogs were amazing and some of them did not survive the ordeal. Balto was an incredible dog. I love that statue in Central Park, I used to live down the block from that end of the park - back when I was a single gal! ( :
