100 Places To See With Your Dog: Sedona in the Fall

Less than 2 hours North of Phoenix, Arizona is the spectacular Red Rock Region known as Sedona.  When we lived in Phoenix, we were lucky enough to be able to visit Sedona often.  Each time we went, it was more spectacular than the time before.  It's our very favorite hiking place, with limitless hiking trails, nearly every one of them dog friendly.  A few weeks before Christmas we decided to head up there for a couple of days of hiking with Icy and Phoebe.

Here are some of my favorite photos from our trip.  I hope you enjoy them, and if you ever have the chance to visit Sedona I hope you'll go!  You will be amazed at the natural beauty and dog friendliness of this incredible town!

Little Phoebe surprised us with her endurance in making it so far up the mountain!

Pausing for a photo op on our way to the top.  OK, so really we "paused" because I was about to keel over - it's a long way up!

Breathtaking view from the bottom of Echo Canyon
YIKES! We passed a flyer tacked on to this sign post.  It says "Bear Country" and lists what to do if you're attacked by a bear!  Not very comforting!  It says if you're attacked by a bear that you should NOT run, but instead make lots of noise to scare the bear off.  Seriously?!  That doesn't sound like much of a plan to me.

Icy jumped up on this rock to get a better view of things

Losing light towards the end of the day, I stopped to give Icy a biscuit and a drink of water
Resting our weary paws at our favorite Starbucks after 2 long days of hiking.  WHAT AN AWESOME TRIP!

WOW! What an amazing view!!! Yeah, I agree the whole "make noise at the bear" idea seems pretty iffy. You are fortunate to be able to enjoy such natural beauty. ☺

It really is an awesome view, pretty much every where you turn! Thankfully, we didn't happen upon any bears so we didn't have to decide whether to yell at a bear or turn tail & run! Thanks for visiting the blog M.K.!

It really is a spectacular place. It's on the way to the Grand Canyon and in my opinion it's almost as incredible. I feel lucky to live fairly close to it & be able to go often. Thanks for stopping by Jenna!
