Today we are joining the Sepia Saturday blog hop with a photo taken in a historic cemetery in Huntington, New York.
This headstone bears the name of a member of the family our street was named after.
We often see backpackers coming by to visit this old historic cemetery. Some of them like to do headstone "rubbings". They place a piece of tracing paper over the engravings on the head stone, and by rubbing pencil across it they create a tracing or rubbing of it. I don't really see the appeal in that, but I've heard some people like to take the rubbings home with them and frame them to hang on the wall.

it does seem a bit odd to do rubbing of grave stones - but there i no telling what people like and don't like :)

I love old cemeteries. That is a neat idea to take a rubbing of an old family member to put in a frame.
