Absolutely. After my husband and I lost our purebred lab Barkley to bone cancer I thought about another pup from a breeder. But we chose a senior dog who was dumped heartworm positive at a high kill shelter, a mix of lab and who knows what. She is the smartest most gentle and loving dogs with a playful spirit. She's healed our hearts in ways I never expected and won't be our last rescue.
