I've been helping Mom plan some exciting Summer road trips.
It's exhausting work!!
I also helped Mom put together these Tips for a Successful Road Trip With Dogs and these tips if you're Flying With Pets by Air.
How about you, are you planning any travel with your pets this Summer? Leave a comment & tell us about it!

Exciting! No summer trips for us (we stay home in the summer - since we don't have kids, we can travel whenever, so we usually go in the spring and fall.) We have a road trip planned with Rita for Sept!
Im so glad you linked up your traveling with pets by air story! I hadn't seen that and I get asked ALL the time about rules and which airlines offer what services. Thanks for including these useful resources.
Sept. Is a great time to travel, perfect weather all over the country! I love bringing our dogs everywhere we can. Where are you headed?
I'm so glad you found it helpful Christine!

Exciting! We have BlogPaws and Europe for trips this year. :D
Since it feels as if we've just got here - I don't have any trips planned other than BP
Where are you guys headed this summer? We're planning some mini-trips with light hiking since Haley's still recovering from her CCL surgery. We'll probably stay pretty close to home though.
Ma is TOTALLY boring...no trips for us, so I hopes I can guilt her into takin' me to the park lots!!! BOL
Can't waits to see what you planned!!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Wow, both are super exciting! I look forward to seeing you again at BlogPaws2016
I know what you mean, it takes time to settle in. I look forward to seeing you at BlogPaws in Phoenix!
We plan to head upstate NY and to the Hamptons, and are choosing between Maine, New Hampshire & Virginia for Summer Hiking trips! Definitely take it easy with Haley, CCL surgery is no fun.
Trips to the park are fun too, especially if you can get a group of friends together. Woof!!
Road trip planning can be such hard work. Looks like you're doing a great job though to help your mom! No road trips for our pets. They don't like traveling.
I always plan to do something. Or should I say I always intend to do something. I have a list of road trips I want to take with my schnoodle Vic including checking out Acadia Park in Maine - I hear Bar Harbour (been there twice but not with a dog) is very dog friendly. I'm open to suggestions. I'm two hours from Buffalo so where I can I drive easily from there?
I need to look at your road trip tips. My puppy just successfully finished her first road trip which went very well, except that she didn't want to "potty" in a strange place. Any suggestions?
Mr. N is coming with me to Blogpaws and I'm hoping to make it to the beach later this summer.
Ruby is not coming with me to BlogPaws and I'm feeling especially guilty and sad about it. She's a bit nervous and I think flying would be too scary for her. We probably will take some weekend trips later in the summer. She does very well on road trips.
Love the photo of your dog with the map! Your tips on road trips and the information on flying with pets are fantastic. My favorite vacation is a road trip with my pet rats. :) They absolutely love to travel. Unfortunately my significant other has developed allergies to them so I have some difficult decisions to make for future trips!
My pups love to go on short rides, but we have never tried a true road trip. For starters, there are just to darn many of them. One little car and 7 big dogs would be like a rolling dog mobile LOL!
Mum says there isn't a map big enough for our trip to blogpaws!! HUH!!!!!
We're heading to Florida in October. We're from Ontario so don't go anyway during the summer as it's the only time we get nice weather here! Florida has become an annual trip for us. Henry and Reese are well travelled now but there's always a starting point. Great information!
Unfortunately, the only travel we will do this summer is to the vet.
Sorry your pets don't enjoy travel. We do it so much, we've got it down to a science!
Definitely do a road trip! Starting close to home is smart for a first trip. Acadia Park is high on my list too, I hope to make it there this Summer. There are lots of beautiful places in upstate NY. I believe there's a dog beach in Lake George. Lake Placid seems to be dog friendly as well. Also, do a search on dog friendly hiking trails in upstate NY. If you go on an adventure, please blog about it & share. Happy trails!
Congrats on your first road trip! It's common for some dogs to hold it in at a strange place. Icy used to hold her poop in for days and wouldn't pee until she was ready to burst. Over time she's gotten much better. It just takes time & getting used to. Try doing frequent, strange walks close to home so you work up to pottying in strange places. During trips, take her back to the same spot repeatedly so she gets used to the new area. Good luck! I hope you'll be blogging about the trips you take with your new pup!
How exciting! I look forward to meeting you and Mr. N at the conference! I hope you make it to the beach this Summer, I look forward to reading about that on your blog.
It's great that Ruby does so well on road trips! I thought flying with me in the cabin would be hard for Phoebe but she was fine. Getting her used to the airline carrier weeks in advance helped - she loves that thing! I also took her to the airport in it once to get her used to the sounds. We stopped at the Starbucks in the airport w/ her in the carrier. She did fine. Flying with her is a breeze - for HER! It's a pain for me to have to carry her when I'm by myself but she's fine with it, LOL!
Thanks, I'm so glad you liked my tips & Phoebe's adorable photo! I can't believe your other half has developed allergies to the rats, that's a shame. They are so easy to travel with.
Oh wow, 7 big dogs on a long road trip would definitely be hard. You'd need a very large vehicle and a few more hands to help out during the trip! I'd keep the trips close to home too.
LOL! Very true, NZ is a long way from Phoenix. I'm excited that you'll be there, I look forward to meeting you friend!
Ontario is beautiful in Summer, I don't blame you for staying home to enjoy it. It will be great to get down to FL in October, a nice extension of Summer for you. Yes, there's always a starting point. We laugh about our early road trips with the dogs and how we used to pack everything but the kitchen sink for our trips, LOL!
Sorry to hear that! I hope you at least get some fun treats after your Vet visits.
