I've always wanted one of those cooling mats for dogs to help my active Husky stay cool on those hot Summer days. I was delighted to have the opportunity to review the COOL PET PAD Revolutionary Self-Cooling Cushion, from The Green Pet Shop.
The Cool Pet Pad's cooling get is activated by your pet's weight, which is just perfect! I don't need to do anything myself to activate the cooling gel. I tried the cooling pad out for about a week or so. The cooling effect of the pad lasted for several hours indoors and maybe 2 to 3 hours outdoors in the shade on some fairly hot days, with approx. 65 - 75% humidity.
I love the tag line on the Cool Pad, just below The Green Pet Shop's logo. It says; Go Green Or Go Home!

I found the Cool Pet Pad to be durable and easy to clean. It fits in a crate and folds up easily for travel, which is really valuable to us since we travel so much, especially in Summer. The enlarged graph from the back of the box shows how much warmer the surface temperature is without using the cool pad vs. when you're using the cool pad. (Note: these results may vary depending on temperature, humidity and your pet)

In case you're wondering, I know I was, the Gel inside the cool pad is NON toxic. Of course, you should not allow your pet to ingest the gel. According to The Green Pet Shop it could potentially cause an allergic reaction in some cases. If your pet does ingest the gel, contact your Veterinarian.

OMD!!! I GOTS ONE OF THESE!!!! Yuppers, I loves it! Though, I keeps it out all year long, since it really doesn't get that cold here, and I likes layin' on it. they last a long time too. Ma got me another one after about a year, cause it does start to dry out after being out all year round. And, I likes to chew on it sometimes (shhhhh, don't tells Ma, she always tells me NO! ) butts, it's never torn or ripped or anythings, so they are good quality. Highly recommend these!

I considered a cooling mat for our trip to Arizona. I really wish that I'd had one when we went to the Grand Canyon. Bentley did get overheated and took a while to cool back down.
Oh wow, I hadn't thought about keeping pets cool to help prevent seizures! This would be a really helpful product for Clara.

We have a similar one — Henry still prefers his bed when given the choice, but I like giving him the option. Cool!
I keep meaning to get one of these for my dog that prefers to sleep on the cool floor. I think she would like it.
Icy seems like the perfect model for this cooling pad! Perfect name too! She looks super happy enjoy the pad! :) No need to roaming around the house to look for the cool spot to lay down. <3
We had heard of cooling pads before, but haven't tried one. We think we want one for the heat waves that we've been having.

My Keeshond would have loved something like this! The dogs I have now don't seem to get too hot, but it would be great for them on the really hot days too.
Cooling pads are great for dogs who get too warm. With Mr. N, it's always a debate between getting too warm and getting wet.
I bought one last year for Kilo the Pug but he did not use it much - he loves fans, laps and couches. You inspired me to try it again so I just put it next to me on the floor now but it seems to have shrivelled up a bit. Yours looks so cool.
I have highly considered one of these for our Oakley, but she is so picky on what she lays on. . . I wonder if she would use it. . .
We've been spending less time outside because of the heat but this could certainly help!
This looks great! I'll keep it in mind as I'll be moving to a hotter climate soon and will need to think of ways to keep cool for the first time without the coastal breeze I currently enjoy. ~Rascal and Rocco

Wow, this sounds AMAZING!!! I love that it cools naturally from the dog's weight. Our last dog, Pip, had heart disease and his last few summers we had to be so careful about keeping him cool. He wore a cooling vest when we were outside. The vest worked really well, but sometimes it was a bit clunky on him (he was a Yorkie and the vest didn't fit him perfectly). I would have loved to have this mat for him. Will have to get one for Ruby.
We tried some pads but weren't happy with them for a number of reasons. We've been using the Cool Bed, though, which is VERY popular with our dogs.

Oh how awful! I was so afraid of a power failure and not having A/C during the heat waves in NY this Summer. Our backup plan was to go to the mall if that happened, LOL! This would be perfect for the pets during a power outage.
It's helped my Husky SO much, she gets a lot of relief from it when it's super hot.

Oh interesting, my dogs both love the cooling mat. I got it for Icy my Husky but little Phoebe is always sneaking onto it, LOL! You can use it yourself for your feet on super hot days, it actually helps!
Probably worth a try, it's thin and smooth and so cool Oakley may like it. Heck, you could even sit on it yourself in the yard if she doesn't LOL!
Same here, we've been indoors so much. It was even too hot inside, the a/c couldn't keep up with the heat & humidity! Icy loved using her cool mat inside, especially on those days. I'm so glad I got it.

I recently reviewed this product as well and I love it! Mom now just leaves in on the floor all the time so when I need it its available! The other thing my mom loves about this product, she can feel the "cooling" effect so she knows it's working! :)
We have one of these and have used it all summer long in the house. When Dex is napping I put it right on his doggie bed in the man cave by my desk. Fab idea for sure.

It's such a great thing to have, especially with all the heat we've had this Summer - brutal for a Husky. I love that it works with the dog's weight, I don't have to do a thing. I'm sure it would have been great for Angel Pip.
