WELCOME TO THE 4 GIFTS FOR PETS BLOG HOP AND GIVEAWAY !
Not sure what to get the pets for the holidays this year? If you're anything like me, you probably end up with a bag full of irresistibly adorable dog toys and maybe a giant chew stick, but not much else. When it comes to the humans on my Christmas gift list I put a lot of thought and planning into it. For my dogs, not so much. I tend to impulse buy cute items, going overboard and over budget!
This Christmas, I'm going to follow the 4 Gifts Rule to buy gifts for Icy and Phoebe. The 4 Gifts Rule was created to help parents select great holiday gifts for their children without breaking the bank.
Here's how the 4 Gifts rule works. When thinking about what presents to buy you select 4 gifts, broken into the following categories: SOMETHING THEY WANT, SOMETHING THEY NEED, SOMETHING TO WEAR, and SOMETHING TO READ (OR EAT).

🎅 SOMETHING THEY WANT
The CLEVERPET HUB, the world's first game console for dogs!
🎄 SOMETHING THEY NEED
A Fleece Sweater for Phoebe and a new Backpack for Icy!
🎅 SOMETHING TO WEAR
The CLEVERPET HUB, the world's first game console for dogs!
The CleverPet Hub gaming console for dogs. |
The CleverPet Hub has games designed by animal-loving cognitive scientists to provide hours of mental stimulation for dogs. Mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise! I won't have to feel guilty when I leave them home, or if it rains for days. They'll stay busy and challenged.
A Fleece Sweater for Phoebe and a new Backpack for Icy!
Phoebe gets cold in the Winter, so she needs something that will keep her toasty warm. She has a fleece sweater but it's getting a bit ratty! This adorable fleece vest in a classic red plaid print will be perfect for her.
Icy is rugged and athletic. She loves going on long hikes with us but her backpack has seen more than it's share of trails. It's pretty worn, and it's time for a new one! A new backpack like this one is definitely on our list for Icy!
Matching holiday Dog Pajamas for Icy and Phoebe!
🎄 SOMETHING TO EAT (they're really not that into books so I chose EAT over READ!)
I got Phoebe a pair of human pajamas a few years ago, but they didn't work out very well. This year I decided to get Icy and Phoebe matching holiday themed pajamas made specifically for dogs. They look so adorable in their holiday pj's, I'm thinking they'll be great for our holiday photo shoot! I got these cute Fa La La Red Plaid Dog Pajamas at Target.
Box of Assorted Holiday themed dog treats!
I bake holiday cookies for us, but I often don't have extra time to make homemade dog treats. This year I'm giving the dogs their own delicious specialty holiday treats too!
It's sure to be a Merry Christmas For Icy and Phoebe with these gifts under our tree!!

Opening gifts.
he gets to open his own gifts and eat the healthier part of dinner with us
We like to hang a stocking for our cat and fill it with treats.
Our tradition is to take a family photo with my pets
we always do stocking and cat treats for santa paws
We love wrapping up toys and having Dexter rip them open
We always take photos for our Christmas card in matching PJs. There's also a ton of snuggling!

I like to take Blueberry for an early morning hike, then come home to open gifts. Pie is also a must.
Opening up presents together and wrapping my dog's gift (squeaky toy)and having him open it himself.
We always take photos with our pup in front of our tree every year.
My pets get their own stocking and gifts. My dog seems to know that she has presents under the tree but she never messes with them.
My dog opens her own gifts!
Opening gifts
I like buying gifts for my pets!
Bentley and Pierre DEFINITELY need the matching pjs! I love your gift ideas.
going for their morning walk then opening their gifts
We always get them at least one toy each year and let them open it.
I love the items you picked, especially their matching pajamas.
I always get my dogs stockings every year. It is a tradition because i like to see them happy on christmas day just like everyone else.
I love spending Christmas with my dog. I take her to see Santa every year and get her photo taken with him. This year I even had holiday professional photos done with her. I also take my own holiday photos of her every year for our xmas card. She gets tons of presents to unwrap b/c she loves to unwrap them and I love watching her do that. She also gets her own stocking full of treats and toys! Needless to say she's SPOILED! Lol! But I love spoiling her!
Oh my gosh, the matching pj's - I love it! I might have to add that to our list - I can do 5 gifts, right? LOL

We have stockings for both our cat and dog. My son opens one at a time with each one.
we just love spending extra time together!
My dog likes to help me own gifts.
I hang a stocking for Layla filled with treats but we also celebrate Hanukka so she is double spoiled LOL
My cat and I are going to establish a new tradition where she flies with me to my family for the holidays. I love it because I get to spend more time with family because she won't be home alone and I always enjoy having her around.
We need to find a new pet tradition for the holidays. There isn't anything we do at Christmas that we don't do other times--except maybe sharing some of our special Christmas breakfast with Honey.
Great idea for the competition, I love the checked fleece for Phoebe and of course, the matching pjs!
We like to cuddle together and watch tv on a cold snowy day in.
The console .... now I am curious!
Thanks for the gift suggestions. Red would definitely be happy with a sweater because she wears them most of the year, and the game console would be perfect to keep Jack mentally stimulated instead of waiting for a neighbour he doesn't like to walk by and bark at!!
I take Mr. N to see lights somewhere each year. Haven't decided where we're going this year yet. Those matching PJs are too adorable!
I like this gifts rule. Perfect for the furkids and friends/family too. Particularly helpful when you have a budget too. My favorite gift idea is the treats container. Very cute too.
The 4 gift rule is a great idea for dogs as it is for humans! Plus the dog pajamas are one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Thank you for sharing! ~ Dear Mishu
We don't have a lot of pet centric holiday traditions, but my boys do have stockings and I love seeing them go crazy on Christmas morning with their new toys or treats. It super cute!
What a clever idea! I love the four gifts for pets concept! And all the prizes are so fun! The console sounds like a great way to keep Chloe busy on cold winter days when we can't get outside for our walks.
I've always loved the four-gift rule. This pet version is smart and creative. Loving those matching PJ's.
The only thing I wouldn't be able to satisfy would be the "something to wear" because the girls don't wear collars or clothes. They don't wear collars because it would tangle their fur terribly. Great list!
You guys came up with such a fun giveaway! I'd love to join if you do it next year. They are all great gift ideas, that gaming hub looks really cool I've never seen it before. Sandra and Dolly
She likes to help the kids open presents.
I have always gotten my pets gifts for Christmas, their birthdays, and just for being the best things ever!
What a fun giveaway! But I am advising mum that this year, as always, more gifts are better than less gifts!! ;)
Lots of licks, your good friend Morrie!
I love wrapping their presents
My dog opens her own gifts!
Our previous cat used to love playing with the trees and presents, and we'd let him mess with the wrapping paper and such. Not too many traditions, though.
I can't say that we have a tradition, just being together.
(I'm Margot C___ on the widget, I did that wrong, sorry)
My favorite tradition is going for a walk with our dog after opening presents on Christmas morning.
I like watching Luma open her stocking and play with all of the family members!
I love when one or more of my furbabies curls up with me on the couch and we watch one of my favorite Christmas movies. It's especially nice when it's really cold and snowy outside!
Taking family photos with the pets included (of course!)
We do paw print ornaments with our dog every year!
We include our dog Tiny in everything this year we get to include our cats :) Ryder and storm !
I love letting my dogs pull all their treats and toys out of their stocking.
I always give my dog gifts for christmas.
We don’t have a holiday tradition with our cat, who’s only 1 1/2. But I’d like to start hanging a stocking for her this year!
My pup has their own stocking, and gets dog friendly cookies, when we put them out Christmas eve.
We've wrapped a couple of treats for them to open.
I enjoy just having our dog around while we open presents. Just feels very warm.
After a big holiday feast we like to take the dog out for a long walk in the brisk air.
