3 GREAT DOG FRIENDLY COFFEE SHOPS IN THE NORTH CAROLINA BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS

Whenever we travel, we bring our dogs along. They deserve a vacation as much as we do! Dog friendly travel is a priority for me, I'm always searching for pet friendly hotels and destinations with fun activities for dogs too. We fell in love with the dog friendly Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina last year, so we went back again this Summer. The beautiful hiking and fresh mountain air are fantastic, but after you hike, kayak, and fish all day you need to relax! I want to share 3 great dog friendly coffee shops in the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains

We spent quite a bit of quality time relaxing and chilling with our dog at these charming dog friendly cafes in the Boone area of the Blue Ridge Mountains!

IMPORTANTAs of September 28, 2024 much of the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains, including Boone and surrounding towns, have been devastated by Hurricane Helene. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the wonderful people of Boone, and others who have been devastated by this monster hurricane. We hope they can all rebuild and move forward as soon as possible. Food and Water are being airlifted to hard to reach areas of the North Carolina mountains. As with most natural disasters, much of the communications have been lost. If you need help locating missing family members in the mountains of North Carolina, the Red Cross has a hotline to help you reconnect with those affected by Helene. Call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), select Disaster. They will try to help locate missing people. People can also use this line to list themselves as safe. Here's a link to the FEMA Hurricane Helene information web site.

Our Favorite Dog Friendly Coffee Spots in the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains

We think these 3 are the best Dog-friendly coffee spots in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.

🐾The Local Lion, Boone North Carolina

The Local Lion is located in the center of everything. It's really convenient if you're visiting Boone or the surrounding areas like Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain and other nearby towns.

We love this place, but not just for the convenience to Boone. They have a large variety of delicious, freshly made donuts, a great selection of coffees, and it's a beautiful little cafe. One of the things we love about it is that it's ideal for bringing your dog along.

They have a lovely, large outdoor patio that is covered! It rains a lot in the North Carolina mountains, so having a covered outside area is gold. We had breakfast at the Local Lion several times during the two weeks we stayed in Boone. We loved it and so did our dog, Icy!

🐾Mountain Dog Coffee, Boone North Carolina

The Mountain Dog coffee shop is really quite unique. It was such a find! This quaint, charming cafe isn't in the center of Boone, it's about a 15 or 20 minute drive from downtown Boon. Somewhat off the beaten path, and so worth the drive!

Their fabulous outdoor patio is beautifully landscaped with lots of gorgeous flowers, and there's even a mountain view across the road. They serve delicious pastries, great coffee, and a few lunch items as well. I loved the warm turkey and cheese sandwich on a croissant, and the cheddar cheese spinach scone. Yum!

The most unique thing about this cafe is they have a fabulous dog park right out back! It's a membership only dog park though, so you need to be a member of the dog park to bring your dog into their park. I kind of like that because at most dog parks you never know what kind of owners and dogs might show up. I feel like this is more local and somewhat controlled. I would feel safe bringing my dog into their dog park. If I lived in the area, or traveled there seasonally I'd definitely become a dog park member!

This dog park is kind of swanky. Dog owners can actually call from right inside the dog park and order coffee, pastries, or even a delicious lunch. The wonderful staff can bring it right to you in the dog park, where you can sit and enjoy it while your dog romps around. How awesome is that!?

I almost signed up to join the $18 per month dog park membership! The next time we go, I think I might actually join, even though we'll only be there maybe twice a year.

🐾Starbucks, Boone North Carolina

I know, you're probably surprised to see a Starbucks on this list!  You were probably expecting them all to be locally owned, Blue Ridge Mountain artisan coffee shops. But this Starbucks is not only super convenient, right in the middle of Boone, it has a really good sized patio that was perfect for our Husky, Icy.

The patio has a nice wrought iron fence around it. Icy loves to people watch! She enjoyed watching the people going in and out of the cafe from her comfy corner of the patio. She also got a few nice hello's from folks leaving the drive-through as they passed by the patio.

Icy is nearly 15, and she literally grew up going to Starbucks coffee shops all over the country! Through our many road trips, she's been to dozens of them from Arizona to New York, New Hampshire and Florida. She's a Starbucks connoisseur! Not to mention that's where my husband and I met, at the Starbucks in our town so it's near and dear to our hearts.

Wherever we travel we always check out the local Starbucks and have a coffee and tea there. It's kind of our thing, and reminds us of how we met. 🥰

We loved spending time at all these cafes. I think these 3 cafes are the best dog-friendly cafes in the North Carolina mountains. And believe me, we tried most of the pet friendly cafes in Boone, NC! If you're searching for a great Blue Ridge Mountain coffee experience and a welcoming place to enjoy it with your dog, these 3 coffee spots are just the thing! So if you're ever in the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains, check out these wonderful places!

WOW!!! You found some fabulous coffee shops! The Local Lion looks super duper yummy with those donuts! My mouth was watering looking at the photos. I love how Icy was so content at each coffee shop. So, sweet! Icy as a Starbucks connoisseur sounds like the start of a fabulous novel. Love how you meet your husband at a Starbucks. There's definitely a great novel in there somewhere and I would love to read it!

I love reading how much you enjoy taking your dogs on vacation with you. I miss mine so much when I'm not with them. Nothing like hanging out and relaxing in a dog friendly cafe.
